Mission: Dawn of War, Annihilation
Pre-game thoughts: I play a daemon army myself and I hate playing mech sisters. I feel I definitely have an advantage but 3 grinders is going to make things tough. My goal is to cluster all my vehicles and force him to drop around me and hopefully I can overwhelm his first wave.
I win the roll to go first and graciously allow him to deploy first and go first!! I leave all my squads in their rhino's and deploy in the southwest corner of the table (north is the opposing player).
Turn #1
He divides up his waves and lo and behold he rolls a 1 for his daemonic assault thus having to deploy his second wave. His second wave was flamers, fiends, plague bearers, horrors, and 2 units of bloodletters. He deep strikes the majority of his units towards the center of the table. Plague bearers deep strike in and run to about 8 inches away from the rhino wall.
My turn #1. I dismount 2 squads and run up the rest of the rhino's and smoke. I deploy all 3 exorcists and 2 immolators on the middle to the southwest side of the table. He now has to decide which targets he wants to go after. I unload into the plague bearers managing to whittle them down to a whopping 7 models (his saves were godlike at one point he made 7 5+ saves in one throw of the dice).
Turn #2
I then proceed to watch my opponent fail all of his reserve rolls save 1. Only 1 grinder enters play. Bad for my opponent good for me. Using the icon he drops a grinder right next to one of my sisters squads. One unit of bloodletters and flamers moves towards my rhino/immolator block. The plague bearers try to move in the same general direction but roll a two for their difficult terrain. His other unit of bloodletters moves down the middle towards my immolators I just moved on the table. The soul grinder launch's a point blank phlem shot that scatters into no mans land and the horrors move up and kill 4 sisters from one of the dismounted units. The fiends circle towards the southwest hoping to get into the juicy exorcists. Flamers shake one vehicle, bloodletters charge and shake another one out of the rhino block. The bloodletters in the middle charge and destroy my immolator. Celestians get out and suffer no casualties. The fiends roll a 2 for the fleet. Keeping them out of the game for another round.
My turn 2. I have a lot of daemons on my door. I do some tank shocking and dismounting. I have one sisters squad move up and unload on the bloodletters in the center. All of them with some supporting fire from 1 of the exorcists and the surviving immolator kill all of the bloodletters. However I now have a unit of celestians and sisters that are possible targets for the fiends. Another sister's squad tank shocks through the bloodletters to get at the juicy horrors behind the horde. They dismount and fire into the squad killing 6 (leaving 4 of them alive). One canoness squad gets out and melta's the soulgrinder in the rear destroying it. The other cannoness squad melta's a couple of plague bearers and assauls them. One sister's squad dismounts and fires point blank into the flamers. And 2 other squads fire into the bloodletters wiping them out. In this one turn I killed off both bloodletters and the flamers, making me feel much safer. One exorcist shoots and kills a fiend.
Turn #3
My opponent gets ku-gath, plaguebearers, another grinder, and his flesh hounds. His plague bearers deep strike next to the surviving icon (locked in hth with my canoness). Along with ku-gath. The grinder deep strikes into the center of the table and the huge unit of houds has to go even further out because of their footprint. They then scatter 11 inches away from me. Ku-gath unleashes breath of chaos and throws some nurglings. Killing 6 with his breath and 2 from another squad because of his deviating nurglings. The grinder phlems a sisters squad and kills 4 more. The fiends run in and munch a celestian squad and then sweeping advance back into cover. His horrors fire on my cannoness unit that got the grinder in the back and assault in, I roll horribly and end up with 2 models left. I finally finish off the original plague bearer unit that was in combat with my canoness.
My turn #3. Alright ku-gath is now in my face and if nothing else I'll have to lock him down in hth. I move up my dh inquisitor and with the psy cannon put 2 wounds on ku-gath, not a bad start. I then launch an exorcist into ku-gath and do nothing. 2 more melta guns from my canoness cause another wound. I then light up ku-gath with 3 squads of sisters with bolters. He can't make a single 4+. 2 Immolators light into the plague marines along with 4 rhinos worth of storm bolters, I then shoot another squad into the plague bearers. My opponent runs out of luck with his saves and doesn't make a single feel no pain and I wipe the unit out. The sisters squad along with 1 exorcist wipe out the fiends. The last exorcist manages to immobilize the soul grinder. I finish off the horrors in hth. The only thing left on the table of my opponents is an immobolized grinder and the flesh hounds.
Turn #4
Rolling for reserves the last soul grinder comes in and the bloodthirster refuses to come onto the table. Grinders do nothing, the hounds run up and kill a celestian squad.
Final tally. He got a total 4 kill points (2 celestian squads).
15 kill points for me Soul Grinder, Fiends, Flamers, Ku-gath, 2 Bloodletters, 2 Plague Bearers, Horrors
Another massacre. My opponent had some absolutely hideous luck that definitely contributed towards my win.
